Jesus' call to openly care for each other has been answered time and time again at St. Catherine's. The purpose of our Community Ministries Program is to foster our continued development as a caring Christian community.
In identifying both the needs and the gifts of our parishioners, we are finding ways to truly be a family to each other. The more we grow as a caring parish family, the more we will also reach out beyond St. Catherine's geographical boundaries, being instruments of hope and love to the larger community. Join others in demonstrating our "love for one another."
Volunteering at St. Catherine's
In the Sacrament of Confirmation, we receive more fully the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The presence of the Spirit deepens our relationship with God and with the Church. This presence also helps us to live out our lives of faith more fully and fruitfully. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, prudence, right judgment, courage, knowledge, reverence and wonder and awe are based on a prophecy in the book of Isaiah. Each points out in a particular way God's works in our soul. But these gifts are not meant to be kept to ourselves, they are given to us that we may open our hands to give them as well. When we open our hands to give, we open ourselves to receive other’s God given gifts. What gifts do you have to share? Are you hiding your light under a bushel, or are you letting it shine?
By visiting the Office of Community Ministries, you will find ample resources and opportunities to give of your time and talents through volunteering. Think of what God is calling you to do to minister to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Do you want to tend to the poor and marginalized in our midst by joining the Mobile Loaves and Fishes Team? Would you have a tender heart to care for an unwed mother by becoming a Gabriel Angel? Maybe you have a strong need to offer your time in promoting the sanctity of life in our Pro-life Ministry, or you have a passion for becoming more active in making this a more just and peaceful world. Drop by the office to find out how Ministry fits into your life.
