September Prime Timers: A Posting by Loretta Dahmus
As you noticed in the bulletin, the Prime Timers is still continuing its Covid-19 recess. The Delta variant and break-through cases have contributed to the recess extension. It will be so exciting when we finally get together again!
Please pick up the Prime Timers Reminiscences created by Juanita. It's beautifully done, and it will forever remain in our archives. Thank you, Juanita!
Every few weeks, I will post parish wide activities that may be of interest to Prime Timers. In addition, I will add a reflection by well known authors such as Joan Chittister, Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen, Paula D'Archy, and other contemporary and non-contemporary Catholic authors. I, too, may add a reflection of my own. At least a reflection will give you something different to read in these postings! I will even add some pictures, at times!
The reflection this post is taken from Can You Drink the Cup written by Henri Nouwen. He taught at Notre Dame, Yale, and Harvard Universities. He has been the the pastor of the L'Arche Daybreak community in Toronto where he shares his life with people with mental disabilities.
"When we lift the cup of our life and share with one another our sufferings and joys in mutual vulnerability, the new covenant can become visible among us. The surprise of it all is that it is often the least among us who reveal to us that our cup is a cup of Blessing"
Future postings, I hope, will be a little more colorful with a few pieces of clip art and photos to add a little more interest. Let me know if you have read this page so that we can determine the number of Prime Timers who read it. Please send any comments or suggestions to: prime-timers20@gmail.com
